John Lennon - “Imagine”

This is one of my favorite songs.
Over time, I will share each one of them.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today…
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world…
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one
There are 2 covers of this song, which I love. The first is a live version by Elton John. The other is a relative newcomer, David Archuleta. This young man has long career ahead of him, IMHO.

hey trekkie-
i’d have to agree with denys. you have a leaning towards remarkable in my mind. i am not sure if you realize just how kind and thoughtful you are. i am humbled- and a bit envious- that you got looks and a heart (ok brains, too).
Steve says, “Don’t kiss up to me!
I’m not used to kindness on the net or in the real world; for that matter!”

what a message as well.
Steve says, “Yeah, it’s a great song!”

It has always been a favorite of mine as well… songs are only poems put to notes
Steve says, “That’s exactly what songs are!”

It’s was easy for John Lennon to imagine no possessions since he was a multi-millioniare. I don’t have to imagine I live in a run down 4 room house with a hole in the ceiling and buckets to catch rain and most of the electric turned off. Let John live like me for awhile then he won’t have to imagine.

I love that song. I’m used to play it in my piano when I’m down…
See ya sweetheart!
PD: What’s wrong with kissing you up?

Steve says, “Not a damned thing! I was just playing.”

Did you ever see the episode of WKRP where the station manager defends the song to some protester or the owner of the station or someone? They did a great job of explaining and defending the song. It’s the only episode of that show I remember anything about.
Steve says, “I’ve never watched that show before! Loni’s hair scared me LOL.”

See. All bloggers should do this and get the toes tapping of everyone everywhere.
Great first choice. I can’t wait to get into your entire library.
Re: Howards Comment above… that do was severe, but the station manager never wore underwear. That was worth the risk.
Steve says, “I agree, music is an intricate part of most people’s lives. I intend on blogging about everyone of my most favorite songs!”

It’s impossible to forget this song, despite we’ll never idealize things like John did.
Steve says, “You’re so right!”

A great tune, but a total pipedream. Oh well…
Steve says, “That whole era was a pipedream, but it was a great tune.”

A lovely song, yes. I was at that spot in Strawberry Fields in Central Park. Even then, in early 2001, it was covered with flowers and stickers with messages, etc.
Steve says, “Yeah that site in Central Park is pretty special!”

This is the deal: My blog has been rebooted. But I can’t, in good faith, not have my favorite songs, of all time, on this site. So, I’m reposting an entry from last year (which is why there are comments previous to this current post date). I know, I’m technically cheating, but I heart music!
