Y’know, I keep hearing “crisis,” and I’m thinking: I’ve still got a job, I’m not standing on any breadlines … where’s the crisis? I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know the first thing about investment banks and sub-prime mortgages, so there very well could be a crisis happening, but whether it is or it isn’t, one thing I know I’m against is giving Bush and any member of his cabinet a check for SEVEN HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS with nothing in place to hold them accountable. We gave them a military blank check in ‘03, and that was a dumb move I don’t need to see repeated.
Steve says, “I agree, and you borrowed my suspended idea
I think all of us could collectively come up with a better solution…..Perhaps we should all suspend our blogs, and work on it.”

My 2 cents is that if every CEO of every Fortune 500 company were forced to give over their 50-100+ million salaries (as well as all their assets), they could pay for their own g_ddamned bailout; and the money left over (there net worth is beyond 700 billion) could be given to every American (to stimulate our economy). It’s time to purge the wealthiest 5% who determine the fate for the rest of our country.

I’m one of those people who keep saying, “Why wasn’t there any money for universal healthcare? Why wasn’t there any money for rebuilding our infrastructure? Why wasn’t there any money for schools and education?” Now, suddenly, BAM! There’s 700 BILLION FUCKING DOLLARS just lying around, ready and waiting to go to a bunch of thieves and crooks who are already wealthy beyond imagination. But…they’re friends with the administration and the administration looks out for and rewards it’s own.
We’re all screwed.
Steve says, “Did ya not hear Bush speak last night? Democratic Capitalism is the greatest ideology in the world. Universal healthcare is so socialistic.”

Maybe we should use the money and send everybody to Disneyworld.

Steve, I can’t stand to hear the sound of that moron’s voice! So no, I didn’t listen. I knew it would just infuriate me. However, I really like Doug’s idea!!!
Steve says, “Well, I didn’t want to listen, but he set back the season premiere of Law & Order, SVU.”

There is a proposal being floated by an Independent legislator from Vermont. Raise, by 1%, the taxes on everyone making $500k a year 1 million for str8 couples. By his estimation that would bring in 300 billion in the first year. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.
Steve says, “Ya can’t tax some and not others, IMHO. Rich, middle class, poor, too many have been living beyond their means. The annoying thing is that those who’ve lived within their budgets are now dealing with the fallout.”

I want a bail out and I can pay my bills. Why, because I’m responsible. It’s not only the banks who caused this problem, it’s also the greedy people who wanted more house than they could afford. We all know how much we can or can’t afford even if the bank says differently. Where is the personal responsibility. Now we the tax payers will be footing the bill. UGH!
Hi Steve
Steve says, “They can send me to jail cuz I’m not paying for other’s debt. I’m serious. They want to tax me to pay for safer neighborhoods, better schools, univeral healthcare; I have no problem with that. But I won’t pay for other people’s greed. And on another tangent, the only kind of mortgage which should be legal is a fixed rate. If ya don’t qualify for one, well that’s too damned bad. Life sucks, sometimes. But, I do think our country needs to address why people can’t find affordable housing, within their means. There should be a home for every income level, but there isn’t.”

Hi All!
I want a bailout too! I bust my but each week to pay for medicine and hospital care…. because my health plan sucks…. and I see the reliefers in line getting everything for free… NOT elderly or disabled folks… healthy young adults. And I’m paying MY bills and THEIRS, too! That’s why I generally detest Democrat politicians, who MADE this mess. But hold on folks, I can’t stand the republicans, either. They ARE crooks and liars.
And, incompetent management (I could write a book) is being WAY overpaid, while us working slobs make them look good. Maybe we should just let it all go to hell in a handbasket and start over?

You don’t want universal healthcare people you don’t understand how bad that would be. I agree we ALL need healthcare. My dad has this great idea of universal healthcare, ONE: we the tax payer would be footing the bill and people who have private healthcare would pay out the wazoo….TWO: YOu are put on a waiting list if you need an operation and you could need one right away but stil lhave to wait becasue there are so many people that need healthcare and not only that the doctors would be wore out and there is a shortage of docs and nurses as it is. There is a way for people to have healthcare and that starts with the jerks out there suing for everything under the sun even when it’s not legit to get money and that causes the healthcare prices to go up. The judges in this country need to stop allowing stupid court cases to go forward that waste the tax payers money.
Sorry I know this was a forum for the 700 Billion bailout but when I saw that one post about Universal Healthcare I had to comment. I don’t believe that we should bail these CEOS that ran these companies into the ground. Let them fail maybe they’ll see that they need to stop screwing everyone.
I work for one the companies that bail themselves out and didn’t need to but wanted to ensure in the future that it could not happen to us. So if we can do it, than the other companies need to as well. AND AS FOR THE CEOS THAT WALK AWAY WITH PARACHUTES THEY NEED TO TAKE THAT MONEY AND PUT IT INTO BAILING THEMSELVES OUT NOT ASK ME TO BAIL THEM OUT!!!!!!!
