Defying Despondency isn’t a serious blog, but it can be (at times).  It’s a place where Steve tries not to share detailed information about himself, others, or his career.  So, in that sense, it’s not really a personal blog, per se.  The site is mainly Steve’s goofy, 40 year-old, observations (written in a loose, grammatical format).  The theme is usually short entries with relevant pictures.  Topics vary around subjects which appeal to him (such as family, friends, gay stuff, humor, family of choice, music, attractive men, and surveys).  Steve enjoys responding directly (in comments) to his readers.  He believes that it gives his blog a chatroom feel (and he likes that, except when the banter steers too far from the current topic).  Steve’s always aiming to amuse, but never forgets the purpose of his blog:  “To chronicle a life which has not always been happy.  It’s done in a laid-back manner, so that, hopefully, readers won’t feel debbie-downered.   He shares these things to help others who have lived with depression & PTSD.   Also, Steve learns by writing about his experiences (through blogging, as well as by reader feedback).”
